Kerrie Trahan 1st attended a yoga class in 2005, in her hometown Detroit, Michigan. When she moved to Yeosu, South Korea she began to take yoga seriously. With regular practice she was began to let go of the depression and grief she was holding on to due to the sudden loss of her father in 2006. The benefits compelled Trahan to travel to Koh Samui, Thailand to learn more about yoga and holistic self-care.
When Trahan returned to the United States she pursued a legal career at Cornell University in New York. Rather than enrolling in law school in the Fall of 2017, she enrolled into yoga teacher training at Lifetime. She earned a RYT-200 (Registered Yoga Teacher-200) hour teacher training certificate. She continued her yoga education in Cali, Colombia and Rishikesh, India, where she became a 500-hour RYT. While training and getting the grassroots organization, Yoganic Flow (YF) up-and-going, she instructed yoga at LifePower Yoga; Trahan also taught Detroit students with Kids Work It Out.
In 2018, Mindbody recognized Trahan and Yoganic Flow for creating a “ripple effect” of health and community in Detroit. 2019, GoDaddy featured Trahan and YF for the photojournalism project releasing in 2020 called “Icons of Our Tribe.” With more experience and media recognition Trahan was able to partner with several non-profits including The Detroit Pistons to expand Yoganic Flow’s outreach. Kerrie Trahan is committed to making yoga accessible to Detroit’s inner-city population in order to contribute the culture of health in the city.
